Terms of service
Last updated: 26 October 2026. These terms apply when you book a locksmith through Locksmiths Group, a trading name of AS SERVICES LTD.
1. Booking and quote
You book by phone. We give you a free quote for the job you describe. Prices on this website are starting prices. Prices plus VAT where applicable. There is no callout fee when you go ahead with the work (see section 3 for the assessment fee).
2. Price confirmed before work
When the engineer arrives, they check the door and lock and confirm the price with you before starting. If the job is different from what was described (for example, a different lock type or extra damage), they explain why. No work is done unless you agree to the price.
3. Cancelling
You can cancel free of charge at any time before the engineer arrives. If you cancel after the engineer has arrived, a £49 assessment fee applies.
Urgent callouts. When you ask us to come out straight away for urgent repairs or maintenance (for example a lockout or a lock that will not secure the door), the 14-day cancellation period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply to that work (regulation 28(1)(e)). Any extra work you agree to on the day that is not urgent keeps the normal cancellation right.
Jobs booked for a later date. For work you book by phone for another day (for example a planned lock change or window lock repair), you have 14 days from the day of the booking to cancel without giving a reason. To cancel, tell us by phone or email at office@locksmithsgroup.co.uk with a clear statement; you can use the model cancellation form, but you do not have to. If you ask us to do the work within those 14 days, we confirm your request in writing (text or email) before we start, and if you then cancel you pay a fair amount for the work done up to that point. Once the work is complete, the cancellation right ends.
4. Proof of residence
For lockouts, the engineer may ask for proof that you live at or are authorised to access the property (ID with the address, a bill or a tenancy agreement) and may refuse to open the door without it.
5. Guarantee
Parts we supply and fit carry a 12-month guarantee against faults in the part or the fitting. It does not cover damage from misuse, forced entry or wear on parts we did not fit.
6. Payment
Payment is due when the job is finished, by card, cash or bank transfer. You receive a written receipt.
7. Damage and liability
We use non-destructive entry where possible. Some locks have to be drilled or replaced to gain entry; the engineer tells you before doing this. We are not liable for existing defects in doors, frames or locks. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer.
8. Complaints
Email office@locksmithsgroup.co.uk. We reply within two working days.
9. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
