What happens when you are locked out
Locked out of a tall Victorian terrace in Totterdown or a flat in Redland?
Tell us what kind of door it is (timber, uPVC or composite) and what lock is on it. Most lockouts are a nightlatch that has shut behind someone, a uPVC door with the key inside, or a key that has snapped or got stuck in the lock.
If the lock has to be drilled, because the keys are lost or the lock has failed, we tell you before we start and fit a new lock on the spot, so you are not left with a door you cannot lock.

Locked out in Bristol: common questions
Will my door or lock be damaged?
We always try to open the door without damage first. Some locks cannot be opened that way and have to be drilled or replaced. If so, the engineer tells you why and confirms the price before starting, and fits a new lock straight away.
My key has snapped or is stuck in the lock. Can you get me in?
Yes. The engineer takes the broken piece out of the cylinder, opens the door and checks the lock. If the cylinder is worn or damaged, you get the price of a new one before it is fitted.
How do I pay?
When the job is finished. Card, cash or bank transfer, and you get a written receipt you can use for an insurance claim.
Do you charge a callout fee?
No callout fee when you go ahead with the job. If you decide not to go ahead after the engineer has arrived, a £49 assessment fee covers the visit. Otherwise you pay for the job itself in Bristol, at the price the engineer confirms with you before starting.
Which areas around Bristol do you cover?
Every BS postcode on the mainland, plus nearby towns such as Bath, Keynsham, Yate, Clevedon, Nailsea, Weston-super-Mare. If you are not sure, call and we will tell you straight away which engineer can reach you.
How quickly can someone get to me?
An engineer is typically with you in 15 to 20 minutes, and within 30 minutes at most. We give you a time on the phone based on where the nearest engineer is right now.
Do you cover Weston-super-Mare and the North Somerset coast as well as Bristol?
Yes. Our engineers cover the whole BS area, including Weston-super-Mare, Clevedon, Portishead, Nailsea and Yatton.
Can you change the locks on a Georgian front door in Clifton?
Yes. Georgian and Victorian houses in Clifton often have solid timber front doors, and our engineers fit BS3621 mortice locks to suit them.
