What happens when you are locked out
If you are locked out of a flat in a converted house in Crouch End, a terrace in Highbury or a new block near King's Cross, call and an engineer will come out. Standard doors are opened with the right tools, and the lock is checked before the engineer leaves.
Tell us what kind of door it is (timber, uPVC or composite) and what lock is on it. Most lockouts are a nightlatch that has shut behind someone, a uPVC door with the key inside, or a key that has snapped or got stuck in the lock.
If the lock has to be drilled, because the keys are lost or the lock has failed, we tell you before we start and fit a new lock on the spot, so you are not left with a door you cannot lock.

Locked out in North London: common questions
Will my door or lock be damaged?
We always try to open the door without damage first. Some locks cannot be opened that way and have to be drilled or replaced. If so, the engineer tells you why and confirms the price before starting, and fits a new lock straight away.
My key has snapped or is stuck in the lock. Can you get me in?
Yes. The engineer takes the broken piece out of the cylinder, opens the door and checks the lock. If the cylinder is worn or damaged, you get the price of a new one before it is fitted.
Do nights and weekends cost more?
No. The price is the same at 3am on a Sunday as it is at midday on a Tuesday, bank holidays included.
Do you charge a callout fee?
No callout fee when you go ahead with the job. If you decide not to go ahead after the engineer has arrived, a £49 assessment fee covers the visit. Otherwise you pay for the job itself in North London, at the price the engineer confirms with you before starting.
My keys are inside. How much does it cost?
Door opening starts from £39 in North London. You get a quote on the phone once you tell us the door and lock type, and the engineer confirms the price before starting.
How do I pay?
When the job is finished. Card, cash or bank transfer, and you get a written receipt you can use for an insurance claim.
Do you cover Finchley, Southgate, Edmonton and Wood Green as well as Islington?
Yes. The same 24-hour line covers the N postcode area, including Islington, Highgate, Finchley, Barnet, Southgate, Edmonton and Wood Green.
Can you help if the street door of my converted house is the problem, rather than my own flat door?
We can repair, re-key or replace the lock on your own flat door, and the engineer confirms the price before starting. A shared street door often belongs to the freeholder or managing agent, so tell us on the call which door has the fault.
