Why a uPVC door stops locking
The 1960s estates and newer streets around Brownhills, Cannock and Aldridge have many uPVC doors, and the faults are familiar: a dropped door, a stiff handle or a worn multipoint gearbox.
Most uPVC doors use a multipoint lock: one handle drives a gearbox in the door edge, which throws hooks and rollers into the frame. When the handle goes floppy, spins, or will not lift, the gearbox has usually worn out. When the door needs force to lock, it has usually dropped on its hinges.
We replace the gearbox or the full strip when they have failed, and adjust hinges and keeps so the door closes cleanly again. We carry the common gearbox sizes, so most repairs are done in one visit.
The same goes for uPVC patio doors and other double-glazed doors: multipoint locks, handles, gearboxes and cylinders are repaired or replaced the same way.

uPVC door repair in Walsall: common questions
My uPVC door won't lock. What is wrong?
Usually the door has dropped, so the hooks no longer line up with the frame, or the gearbox inside has worn out. Adjusting the door starts from £79; a new gearbox from £89.
The handle spins and the door will not open. Can you help?
Yes. That is a failed gearbox, one of the most common uPVC calls we get in Walsall. We open the door and fit a new gearbox.
How quickly can someone get to me?
An engineer is typically with you in 15 to 20 minutes, and within 30 minutes at most. We give you a time on the phone based on where the nearest engineer is right now.
Do nights and weekends cost more?
No. The price is the same at 3am on a Sunday as it is at midday on a Tuesday, bank holidays included.
Do you repair composite doors too?
Yes. Composite doors use the same multipoint locks and euro cylinders, so we repair them the same way.
How does pricing work?
Tell us the door, the lock and what has happened, and we give you a free quote on the phone. When the engineer arrives, they check the lock and confirm the final price with you before starting any work. Nothing is done without your agreement. A £49 assessment fee applies only if you cancel after the engineer has arrived.
Do you cover Lichfield, Cannock and Burntwood as well as Walsall?
Yes. Our engineers cover the whole WS area, including Lichfield, Cannock, Burntwood, Rugeley, Brownhills, Aldridge and Great Wyrley.
Wednesbury is in Sandwell but has a WS postcode. Do you still come out?
Yes. Wednesbury and Darlaston both sit in the WS10 district, and our engineers cover them along with the rest of the WS area. The quote is free on the phone, and typical arrival is 15 to 20 minutes.
