Common uPVC window lock problems
Coastal weather shortens the life of window catches and handles, and older timber sashes in town houses have worn locks of their own. We repair or replace window locks, handles and restrictors on uPVC and timber frames.
A handle that turns but does not lock, a handle that has snapped, or a window that will not close tight. Most of these come from a worn handle or a failed espagnolette, the locking bar inside the frame.
We replace handles with locking handles where you want them, so windows can be locked with a key, and fix or replace the mechanism behind them. Patio and French door locks are part of the same job.

Window lock repair in Truro: common questions
How much is a window lock repair in Truro?
From £69 for a uPVC window handle or lock. If the locking mechanism inside the frame has failed, the engineer tells you the price for that before doing it.
Can you fit locking window handles?
Yes. We fit keyed locking handles to uPVC windows, often asked for by insurers and by parents of young children.
My window will not close properly. Can you fix it?
Usually, yes. It is often the hinges or the keeps that need adjusting, which is quicker and cheaper than replacing parts.
Do nights and weekends cost more?
No. The price is the same at 3am on a Sunday as it is at midday on a Tuesday, bank holidays included.
Do you charge a callout fee?
No callout fee when you go ahead with the job. If you decide not to go ahead after the engineer has arrived, a £49 assessment fee covers the visit. Otherwise you pay for the job itself in Truro, at the price the engineer confirms with you before starting.
Which areas around Truro do you cover?
Every TR postcode on the mainland, plus nearby towns such as Falmouth, Redruth, St Austell, Penryn, Newquay, Camborne. If you are not sure, call and we will tell you straight away which engineer can reach you.
Do you cover Falmouth, Newquay, Penzance and St Ives as well as Truro?
Yes. The same 24-hour line covers the whole TR postcode area, including Redruth, Camborne, Helston, Hayle, Perranporth, St Agnes and the Lizard peninsula.
Can an old cottage door be fitted with a modern BS3621 lock?
Usually, if the door and frame are sound. The engineer looks at the door, says which lock suits it and confirms the price before any work begins.
